Walker encourages locals to attend energy affordability listening sessions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (March 27, 2026) — State Sen. Kyle Walker (R-Lawrence) encourages residents of Senate District 31 to attend one of 10 state-wide listening sessions hosted by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to share the impacts of energy prices.

On Thursday, April 9, a listening session will be held in the Council Chambers at Noblesville City Hall, 16 S 10th St., Noblesville, and on Monday, April 20, a session will be held in Ivy Tech Conference Center's Ballroom 212, 2820 N Meridian St., Indianapolis. Both will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.

"Hoosiers are concerned about the rising cost of their utilities, and these events give Hoosiers the opportunity to express those concerns," Walker said. "I appreciate the IURC for hosting these events and seeking input from Hoosiers to address this critical issue."

During the 2026 legislative session, Walker supported House Enrolled Act 1002, which overhauls Indiana's ratemaking process for electric utilities to promote affordability, predictable monthly bills and reliable service. The legislation switches Indiana to a performance-based ratemaking model, requiring utility companies to meet certain affordability and reliability goals in order to collect their full return on investment.

Walker encourages constituents to contact him with any questions or comments they may have.

He can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.indianasenaterepublicans.com/kyle-walker or by phone at 800-382-9467.
