STATEHOUSE (Aug. 10, 2026) — State Sen. Scott Alexander (R-Muncie), along with State Rep. Elizabeth Rowray (R-Yorktown), recently honored Muncie native and former Mid-West Metal Products CEO Steven Smith with the Distinguished Hoosier Award for his extraordinary career and dedicated service to his community.
On Dec. 31, 2025, Steve retired as CEO of Mid-West Metal Products following the celebration of his 50th anniversary with the company.
"Through Steve's tenure with Mid-West Metal Products, he proudly represented a longstanding family-owned manufacturing business and helped guide the company over decades of industry changes," Alexander said. "His retirement marks the end of a truly impressive career."
Steve also demonstrated dedication to service and education beyond Mid-West Metal Products, serving on the Yorktown Community Schools Board, as a member of the Miller College of Business at Ball State University Marketing and International Business Advisory Board, as Chief Volunteer Officer for the Muncie YMCA and continues to serve on numerous boards in his community.
"I am grateful to be able to recognize Steve for his years of valuable work and service within our community and Indiana," Alexander said. "His commitment to civic leadership, community service and volunteer work is admirable and something we should all strive to achieve."
