Statement from State Sen. Eric Bassler

State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington) made the following statement today regarding the tornado that hit Sullivan:

STATEHOUSE (April 3, 2023) — "Like so many Hoosiers, I have been lifting up the families and friends of those lost in Friday night's storms, and people of Sullivan impacted by the weather, in prayer all weekend.

"I visited Sullivan Saturday and spoke with several residents who already plan to rebuild.

"I also met with Sullivan Mayor Clint Lamb, Sullivan County Council President Logan Pearison as well as first responders, and I will continue to stay in contact with local officials to make sure state resources are getting to those in need.

"For those needing emergency housing, the American Red Cross has set up a shelter at Abundant Grace House of Prayer located at 761 W. Wolfe St. in Sullivan.

"The Wabash Valley Community Foundation has set up a fund to support recovery efforts in Sullivan County, and I encourage anyone who can give money to consider donating.

"Hoosiers have always come together in times of need, and after seeing neighbors helping neighbors firsthand, I believe Sullivan will rebuild stronger than ever before."
