Celebrating Christmas

By State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond)

It is that time of the year again when family and friends come together to celebrate the holidays and give thanks for all our blessings in life. Even though the temperatures are dropping, the atmosphere is getting warmer as Hoosiers put up decorations around their homes and prepare for the festivities.

Local communities in Senate District 27 are also helping residents celebrate the holiday season by hosting several events including light shows, parades, community dinners, reindeer encounters and Santa meets.

These festivities are not only a great way to make the season merry and bright, but to also bring together Hoosiers from throughout our communities to connect and share in the holiday spirit. I highly suggest anyone attends one or several of the many local events available.

With gifts to wrap, food to bake and events to attend, I understand this time of year can be overwhelming, but I encourage you to slow down and enjoy even the simplest of moments this season.

To the medical professionals, emergency personnel working during the holiday season, as well as those serving in the military who are away from their families, I offer my thanks and warm wishes to you and your family. Your dedication and sacrifice are greatly appreciated.

I wish each of you a blessed holiday filled with joy, peace and happiness.
