#INtheKnow: Helping Veterans and Their Families

Honoring Hoosier veterans is always a top priority for lawmakers. This past session, the Indiana General Assembly passed several measures aimed at helping veterans receive the benefits they deserve.

One new law, Senate Enrolled Act 307, helps not only veterans but their families as well.

SEA 307 requires the Department of Workforce Development to give veterans and their spouses priority when filling federal or state positions or training programs if they are eligible and were honorably discharged from the military.

With this law, veterans will be able to make the transition back to civilian life easier while also helping their spouses gain meaningful employment.
