STATEHOUSE (April 23, 2026) — A bill authored by State Sen. Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute) that aligns Ivy Tech Community College's programs with the evolving needs of Indiana's economy was ceremonially signed by the governor on Wednesday, April 22.
Senate Enrolled Act 254 emphasizes the workforce development mission at Ivy Tech by updating its governance structure and responding to Indiana's workforce ecosystem.
"For more than 60 years, Ivy Tech has successfully prepared Hoosiers of all ages for the economy of the future," Goode said. "I believe our state's future is directly tied to the future of Ivy Tech, which is why I worked with the institution to update its structure and allow it to focus on ensuring it is preparing Hoosiers for future employment."
The law also adds dual credit and dual enrollment as part of Ivy Tech's mission and establishes subject-matter expertise requirements for the boards of the college and each campus.
"Ivy Tech is one of the nation's leading dual credit schools, helping Hoosier students earn college degrees quicker and more efficiently," Goode said. "I'd like to thank the institution's leaders for working with me to find ways to make our state's community college system even better than before."
Goode encourages residents of Senate District 38 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Goode can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Goode or by phone at 800-382-9467.
