STATEHOUSE (Dec. 10, 2024) — State officials are working with locals after a water filtration plant in Jasonville was damaged by a fire earlier this week, said State Sens. Eric Bassler (R-Washington) and Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute).
The fire disrupted water distribution in Jasonville, Coalmont and Hymera.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has delivered a truckload of bottled water and the Indiana National Guard is working to deliver a filtration system that will produce drinking water for the area.
Drinking water is currently available at the following locations.
Bassler and Goode say they will work with state and local governments to ensure clean water is available to area residents.
"Having access to clean drinking water is important for everyone," Bassler said. "I will work with state and local officials to monitor the situation to make sure our neighbors can get back to their normal daily lives as quickly as possible."
"In times of need, Hoosiers come together to ensure our neighbors are taken care of," Goode said. "Getting state resources to those in need is a top priority for me, and I will help in any way I can to make sure these resources get to those in need."
Anyone with additional needs can contact Indiana 211 by dialing 2-1-1 or 866-211-9966 or visiting in.211communityos.org.
