Applications open for Community Crossings Grant Program

Friday, July 12, 2019

In 2016, the Indiana General Assembly passed legislation that created the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), which helps cities, counties and towns across our state improve their roads and bridges.

Recently, Gov. Eric Holcomb announced the application for the CCMG is now open to all local governments in Indiana with eligible road construction projects, including road resurfacing, bridge rehabilitation and road reconstruction with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp work.

The Next Level Roads program is a fully funded, 20-year plan to enhance Indiana’s highways and local roads. To date, this program has awarded more than $500 million in matching funds to support local construction projects.

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) matches up to $1 million when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations less than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations less than 10,000 receive a 75/25 percent match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50/50 percent match.

INDOT offers two calls for projects each year, one in January and one in July, and communities are eligible to apply for up to $1 million once per year during the call of their choice.

The deadline to apply for the CCMG is Friday, Aug. 2, at 5 p.m. Award recipients will be notified by INDOT this fall.
