STATEHOUSE (March 17, 2026) — A bill authored by State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) that bans vaping products manufactured in foreign adversarial nations like China from being sold in Indiana was signed by Gov. Mike Braun on Thursday, March 12.
Senate Enrolled Act 185 protects Hoosiers from consuming dangerous chemicals added to vaping products from nations that want to do Americans harm.
"As a state senator, one of my top priorities is to keep Indiana residents safe from those who pose a threat to us," Alting said. "SEA 185 is a public safety bill aimed at keeping dangerous Chinese-produced vaping products, many of which China bans for its own citizens, out of the hands of Hoosiers."
The bill unanimously passed both the Senate and House of Representatives during the 2026 legislative session.
"I'd like to thank my colleagues in the General Assembly for voting in favor of SEA 185 and taking this problem seriously," Alting said. "I'd also like to thank Gov. Braun for signing the bill into law and working with me to ensure Hoosiers are safe from these dangerous products."
Alting encourages residents of Senate District 22 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alting can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alting or by phone at 800-382-9467.
