Alting's bill banning dangerous Chinese-produced vaping products passes Senate

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 27, 2026) — A bill authored by State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) that would ban vaping products manufactured in foreign adversarial nations like China from being sold in Indiana unanimously passed the Senate today.

Senate Bill 185 would protect Hoosiers from consuming dangerous chemicals added to vaping products from nations that want to do Americans harm.

"The federal government has sounded the alarm about illegal vaping products entering the United States from China," Alting said. "These products often have chemicals in them, many of which are banned in China, that can cause harm to anyone who ingests them. That's why the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission and I have partnered together to ban these products from China and other foreign adversaries from being sold here in Indiana."

The bill now moves to the House of Representatives for further consideration.

Alting encourages residents of Senate District 22 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alting can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alting or by phone at 800-382-9467.
