Alting's bill banning dangerous Chinese-produced vaping products ceremonially signed by governor

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (April 30, 2026) — A bill authored by State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) that bans vaping products manufactured in foreign adversarial nations like China from being sold in Indiana was ceremonially signed by the governor today.

Senate Enrolled Act 185 protects Hoosiers from consuming dangerous chemicals added to vaping products from nations that want to do Americans harm.

"In recent months, federal agencies have sounded the alarm about illegal vaping products entering the U.S. from China that are filled with dangerous chemicals and causing significant harm to Americans," Alting said. "China itself has banned many of these chemicals for their own citizens but sends them into our country. That's why I partnered with the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission to ban these products from being sold in Indiana.”

The bill received unanimous support in the Indiana General Assembly earlier this year.

"I'd like to thank everyone I worked with to get this bill through the General Assembly," Alting said. "One of my top priorities is to ensure Hoosiers remain safe, and I believe this bill protects Hoosiers from countries that want to harm us."

Alting encourages residents of Senate District 22 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alting can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alting or by phone at 800-382-9467.
