The 2014 legislative session is quickly approaching, and all of us at the Indiana State Senate are gearing up for three months of committee meetings, bill hearings and everything in between. Session goes by fast, so it’s our goal to keep constituents like you updated every step of the way.

To do that, we’ve redesigned the Indiana Senate Republican Caucus homepage, giving you an easier way to find the information you’re looking for. Here’s a quick walkthrough of what’s new.

Contact My Senator – Your personal involvement is crucial to the legislative process, and that’s why we’ve made sure our visitors can connect with their senators. Go to this section on the homepage to find out which lawmaker represents your location, and how to write or call him or her.

Watch Live – Interested in following a particular bill or committee? Find the General Assembly’s daily schedule here, and watch committee hearings and Senate sessions. With this, you can observe votes, amendments and testimonies as they happen.

Find a Bill – If there is a specific issue you’re interested in, you can look up legislation by subject or bill number in this section. From there, you can read the text of the bill, keep track of where it is in the legislative process and view the roll call votes.

Media Room – There is a lot that goes on every day in the Statehouse, and the Indiana Senate Majority Communications Office makes sure you get the news as soon as possible. Click on this link to read press releases, watch videos and listen to radio feeds from our caucus.

Get INvolved – Looking for more ways to be a part of Indiana government? This section has information on our internship programs, student pages, and how to schedule a tour at the Statehouse. Use these resources in your homes, classrooms and community organizations.

Over the next few months, check back here for the latest Statehouse news. You’ll find senators’ perspectives, details on specific policy issues and what to expect throughout session. You can follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more information and updates.
