21st Century Scholars Deadline Approaching

Friday, June 12, 2020

Entering its 30th year, 21st Century Scholars is an early college promise program that offers income-eligible Hoosiers up to four years of paid tuition at a participating Indiana college or university after graduating from high school.

Students whose families meet the income requirements and are looking to attend an Indiana post-secondary school are eligible to enroll in grades 7 and 8. This year, the deadline for the application is June 30.

To maintain eligibility for paid college tuition, students must complete the Scholar Success Program, a yearly guide for high school students in preparation for college. This program includes steps such as creating a graduation plan, taking career assessments and taking college entrance exams. Participating high school students must also maintain a 2.5 grade point average and graduate with at least a Core 40 diploma.

Once a student is accepted to an Indiana college or university, 21st Century Scholars continues to provide guidance throughout their college career. They provide a College Completion Plan and other resources to help students graduate in four years and meet the requirements of their scholarship.

These college requirements include earning at least 30 credits, filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and completing the College Scholar Success Program each year of college.
