2020 Election Information

Wednesday, September 9, 2020

Election Day is right around the corner, and there are a number of things you should be aware of as you plan to cast your vote this November.

First, Hoosiers need to register to vote by the Oct. 5 deadline. Starting Oct. 6, registered voters can participate in early, in-person voting. Absentee ballot requests are currently being accepted, and Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson recommends requesting an absentee ballot by Oct. 19 and mailing in completed ballots by Oct. 27 to ensure votes are accounted for ahead of Election Day.

Next, Indiana will need a significant number of volunteer poll workers to ensure a smooth-running election process for all involved. The state has already procured personal protective equipment for poll workers and in-person voters. Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to contact your local election office to learn about working the polls this fall.

Finally, it is important that all eligible Hoosiers register and vote in a timely manner. Whether it is by mail or in-person, there is ample time to ensure your vote gets counted properly. With Indiana utilizing services that protect against hackers trying to gain access to Indiana's voter registration system, and proper social distancing requirements in place, Indiana looks forward to having a safe and secure election.
