STATEHOUSE (Sept. 18, 2025) – On Tuesday, Sept. 16, State Sen. Jim Tomes (Wadesville) met with senior executives from CenterPoint Energy in Evansville to discuss concerns from area constituents regarding recent utility bill increases.
"One of the biggest issues my constituents have brought up to me has been CenterPoint Energy's recent bill increases," Tomes said. "My goal was to bring these concerns in person with executives from the company to work on a solution."
CenterPoint Energy is a utility company based in Houston, Texas, that provides electricity and natural gas to customers around the country, including portions of Indiana.
Some of the ideas discussed during the meeting were additional bill payment options, better and increased communications and new ways to listen directly to customers.
"Although I thought the meeting went very well, it is my hope to continue conversation with the company and work on possible solutions," Tomes said. "It is important to me that my constituents' voices are heard and those who are truly struggling with these bills have a chance to recover. I thank those from CenterPoint for taking the time to have this discussion."
