With schools across the state wrapping up the academic year, summer fun is just around the corner. From small towns and lakes, to festivals and markets, Indiana has a lot to offer during the warm months.
Indiana is home to many beautiful state parks that offer fun for all ages. Whether that includes hiking, camping or fishing, there are many ways to get outside and enjoy the warm weather. For Hoosiers with a mobility disability, Indiana state parks recently introduced Track Chairs for guests to use on trails and park facilities. Make sure to check out a nearby state park this summer and explore the natural beauty of Indiana.
Additionally, June 6 – 7 and Sept. 26 are free fishing days at all Indiana state parks. On free fishing days, Indiana residents do not need a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp to fish the state's public waters.
Many cities and towns across the state host festivals and parades during the summer months. The Indiana State Festivals Association provides a guide each year of local events. This year's Indiana Festival Guide can be found by clicking here.
Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites provides a Summer Break Central Guide for Hoosiers to explore and learn about Indiana's rich history during the summer months. Visit the museum in downtown Indianapolis for hands-on exhibits and to learn about historic sites across the state for the perfect trip.
