Statement from State Sens. Dan Dernulc and Rick Niemeyer
State Sens. Dan Dernulc (R-Highland) and Rick Niemeyer (R-Lowell) made the following statement applauding Gov. Mike Braun's efforts to bring attention to energy rate increases in Indiana:

STATEHOUSE (Sept. 10, 2025) – "It is great to see Gov. Braun working to address an important issue affecting many Hoosiers, especially those in northern Indiana. We have heard from our homeowners and business owners and have seen our own utility bills going up from NIPSCO over the last few years, and these increases do not show any sign of slowing down.

"These energy rate increases have become a financial burden and an unwelcome surprise for many Hoosiers. Affordability and reliability should be the priority of these utility companies.

"We stand with the governor and the new Office of the Utility Consumer Counselor commissioner Abby Gray, who will advocate for Hoosiers around Indiana. This is one step we can take to help Hoosiers who are suffering due to these price hikes."
