Statement from State Sen. Travis Holdman

State Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle) made the following statement today regarding the conclusion of the 2020 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (March 11, 2020) – "During the 2020 legislative session, I had the privilege of authoring Senate Concurrent Resolution 21, which encourages the education and use of Safe Haven Baby Boxes. These boxes offer the safe surrender for newborn babies, and I am pleased to report that six babies have been saved due to this life-saving effort.

"Additionally, I sponsored House Enrolled Act 1007, which will reduce government debt by paying for capital projects that were approved in our most recent budget with cash. This will eliminate almost $300 million in state debt and save Hoosier taxpayers $135 million in the long run by avoiding future interest payments.

"We also passed legislation that will improve health care cost transparency by creating an All-Payer Claims Database, curbing surprise billing and requiring hospitals to post the average price of common procedures they provide online.

"I am proud of the work that was completed by the Indiana General Assembly in this legislative session, and I look forward to continuing to serve the great people of Senate District 19."
