Statement from State Sen. Rick Niemeyer

State Sen. Rick Niemeyer (R-Lowell) is calling on Gov. Braun to temporarily suspend tax on gas to help provide relief for Hoosiers and made the following statement today:

STATEHOUSE (April 8, 2026) – "Many throughout the state, especially Hoosier families, senior citizens and those in farming communities entering planting season, are feeling the pressure of rising costs, and suspending the tax on gas is one way we can help ease this burden. I am extremely supportive of this effort and will continue to find other ways to help make the cost of living more affordable for all those in Indiana.

"In addition to calling for the suspension of the gas tax, I recently supported a new law that provides stability and affordability to people's electric bills. I encourage those in our community to attend the listening session in Gary on Monday, April 13, to offer input on the energy affordability situation."
