Statement from State Sen. Randy Maxwell urging the governor to suspend the gas tax

State Sen. Randy Maxwell (R-Guilford) is calling on Gov. Braun to temporarily suspend tax on gas to help provide relief for Hoosiers and made the following statement today:

STATEHOUSE (April 8, 2026) – "I stand with Sen. Holdman on calling on Gov. Braun to suspend the gas tax.

"After hearing from numerous constituents about the pain they are feeling at the pump, I called the governor's office last week requesting he suspend the gas tax. I am glad to join with Sen. Holdman and many other Republican Senators on this effort, as our state is in a strong enough financial position to be able to give some money back to hard-working Hoosier taxpayers.

"Suspending the gas tax will go a long way to help Hoosiers and will be just the latest step by Republicans to make life more affordable in our state."
