Statement from State Sen. Mark Messmer

State Sen. Mark Messmer (R-Jasper) made the following statement today in response to Gov. Eric Holcomb's 2023 State of the State address:

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 10, 2023) — "During his State of the State address tonight, Gov. Eric Holcomb highlighted his priorities, which included his plan increase the starting pay for Indiana State Police (ISP) to $70,000 per year.

"State troopers are some of the lowest-paid law enforcement officers in the state, according to the Indiana State Police Alliance. Offering higher pay to the ISP will help keep the state's best officers on the road and in our community to protect Hoosiers.

"I look forward to working with the governor and fellow state legislators to increase the pay for our state troopers and retaining the best officers with ISP."
