Indiana State Sen. Jim Merritt (R-Indianapolis) made the following statement today regarding the newborn baby safely surrendered to the Decatur Township Fire Station under the Safe Haven Law:
STATE HOUSE (July 2, 2018) – “Once again, a baby’s life has been saved through the Safe Haven Law. The last thing we want to do is encourage parents to give up their children, however, for those who feel they have exhausted all other options and don’t know where else to turn, the Safe Haven Law is a safety net in a time of crisis and desperation. This system continues to save lives.”
