STATEHOUSE (Aug. 13, 2025) – "I am extremely pleased to see the unprecedented increase in third grade literacy rates in the 2024-2025 IREAD assessment results. The statewide implementation of the Science of Reading has certainly made a positive impact on our students, and I look forward to seeing the literacy rates continue to increase in the future.
"I am happy to have played a small role in improving these literacy scores through legislation I authored in 2024, but more importantly, I am grateful to all the educators who put in the work to ensure our Hoosier students are reading at levels that set them up for success in their futures. We could not have achieved this level of improvement without their dedication to the students they instruct and mentor."
