STATEHOUSE (July 28, 2017) – “Many people know that I spent my career as a law enforcement officer. These events are both tragic in their own way, and my thoughts and prayers are with the families and communities that have been impacted by the deaths of these brave officers. I’ve known Deputy Chief Waters for many years and always saw him as a dynamic officer and a leader in our community. Lt. Allan had a great desire to serve the citizens of Southport and the larger community. He responded to this incident without hesitation as officers do on a daily basis. His bravery and courage will not be forgotten. I am grateful for the service of both of these men, and I will continue to pray for their families, our communities and all law enforcement officers.”
