Statement from State Sen. Eric Bassler

State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington) made the following statement following the conclusion of the 2023 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (April 28, 2023) – "I believe that the 2023 legislative session will go down in history as a monumental success.

"Once again, the state will have a balanced two-year budget, which includes a nearly $3 billion increase in K-12 education funding for Indiana's schools and the elimination of textbook fees for Hoosier families.

"I was also happy to support both Senate Enrolled Act 1 and Senate Enrolled Act 4, two health care bills that will make the state a better place to live.

"The budget will provide $100 million in funding for SEA 1's community mental health initiatives and $225 million for SEA 4's local public health grants that county health departments can apply for.

"SEA 4 is completely optional and allows counties to decide what is best for their residents.

"Helping ensure a bright future for the residents of Senate District 39 and all Hoosiers is one of my top priorities, and I we made major strides toward that goal this session."
