It is that time of year again, where friends and family come together from throughout our community and beyond to celebrate Christmas.
While Christmas is an important holiday throughout the world, it has an extra special meaning here in Senate District 48 as the home of Santa Claus.
For decades, local residents have come together to answer letters to Santa as they arrive in the southern Indiana town from around the country and world. These volunteers are great examples that donating time to put a smile on a child's face is one of the best gifts we can give.
This year, I am looking forward to spending time with family and friends as we celebrate the many blessings we have been given over the last year.
With gifts to wrap and food to prepare, I know this time of year can easily get overwhelming. I encourage you to slow down and enjoy the time you have with your loved ones this season.
As always, I ask that you remember the members of our armed forces, public safety officers and first responders who spend time away from their families to help ensure we are safe this holiday season. May we never take their sacrifice for granted.
For Hoosiers who need a little extra help this season, dialing 2-1-1 can help connect individuals with essential resources, including food assistance, housing support, transportation, legal aid and more.
From my family to yours, I wish you a very Merry Christmas.
As always, constituents can reach out to me with any questions or concerns by email at s48@iga.in.gov or by phone at 1-800-382-9467.
