While the holidays are a time of celebration for many, they can also bring added pressure for Hoosiers experiencing financial strain, emotional challenges or uncertainty. To help families navigate the season, Senate Republicans are sharing reliable resources that can help provide Hoosiers with guidance, relief and support.
As a part of Senate Republicans' broader effort to support Hoosiers during challenging times, we have prioritized improving access to mental health care. In 2023, Senate Enrolled Act 1 established the framework to expand certified community behavioral health clinics statewide. Building on that momentum, the 2024-25 state budget invested $100 million to continue expanding mental health services and strengthen access to care for Hoosiers in need.
Below are helpful programs available to assist Hoosier families, service members and veterans throughout the holiday months.
- 988 Indiana – A free, confidential hotline available 24/7 for anyone experiencing thoughts of suicide, mental health or substance-use concerns, or emotional distress. Trained specialists are always available to offer support.
- Indiana 211 – A statewide service that connects individuals with essential resources, including food assistance, housing support, transportation, legal aid and more.
- Gleaners Food Bank – An online directory that helps families locate nearby food pantries and hunger-relief partners across Indiana.
- Office of Financial Readiness – Provides personal financial counselors to help individuals and families create budgets, resolve financial challenges and work toward long-term financial stability.
- Soldier and Family Readiness Center – Supports service members, veterans and their families by connecting them with important community resources.
- Energy Assistance Program – Assists eligible Hoosiers with heating and utility costs during the winter season.
