Statement from State Sen. Scott Baldwin
State Sen. Scott Baldwin (R-Noblesville) made the following statement
regarding the conclusion of the 2024 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (March 8, 2024) – "Today we concluded our 2024 legislative session, and I am proud to see legislation I have worked on head to the governor.

"This year I also authored legislation that would establish the Community Cares Initiative, a pilot grant program to help communities improve paramedicine resources to address local mental health needs. This proposal is modeled after the City of Noblesville’s innovative NobleACT program that Mayor Chris Jensen launched in 2020 to strengthen community-based response to mental health and substance abuse challenges. The language of this bill was placed into House Enrolled Act 1385, which I sponsored.

"As a veteran, I am happy to have co-authored a bill that would allow catastrophically disabled veterans to hunt on the same free hunting days as those designated for youth hunters by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. The days can serve as a healthy outlet for veterans who have sacrificed so much for this country.

"Hoosier safety is something I will continue to advocate for, which is why I co-authored Senate priority bill Senate Enrolled Act 5, which would set up a procedure to help utility companies in Indiana replace lead water lines quicker and more efficiently. Lead pipes pose a major health risk to Hoosiers, which is why it's important that we replace them as quickly as possible.

"Even though this was a short session, the General Assembly made great strides. I will continue work in the interim by meeting with my colleagues. As the chair of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Financial Institution and ranking member of Senate Committee on Tax and Fiscal I remain committed to working diligently to improve the life of all Hoosiers.
