Statement from State Sen. Kyle Walker
State Sen. Kyle Walker (R-Lawrence) made the following statement regarding the conclusion of the 2024 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (March 8, 2024) – "As we conclude the 2024 legislative session, I am pleased to see several Senate priority bills moving to the governor's desk as well as several bills I authored.

"One bill I authored will help approximately 2,000 Hoosiers under the age of 65 with ALS and End Stage Renal Disease purchase affordable Medigap plans. This bill will result in better health outcomes and lessen reliance on Medicaid. Indiana will join 16 other states that previously required Medigap access.

"In addition, public safety remains one of my top priorities, which is why I authored Senate Enrolled Act 232 to increase the penalty for false informing when calling 911. Those who need emergency assistance should have unlimited access to it and those who knowingly file false reports with law enforcement, such as the recent emergence of swatting, should face significant penalties.

"I also continue to advocate for local economic development, which is why I sponsored House Enrolled Act 1086. The bill allows restaurants and bars to reduce the price of alcoholic beverages during a part of the day, making social hour at bars and restaurants legal in Indiana for the first time in nearly 40 years.

"Though this was a short session, I believe we passed several good policies for Hoosiers. I look forward to continuing to serve Hoosiers from Senate District 31 during the interim."
