State Sen. Jean Leising to serve as vice-chair of agriculture and
natural resources study committee

STATEHOUSE (June 22, 2020) – State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) will serve as vice-chair of the Interim Study Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources during the summer and fall to help prepare lawmakers for the 2021 legislative session. She will also serve on the:

  • Community and Home Options to Institutional Care for the Elderly and Disabled Board;
  • Indiana Protection and Advocacy Services Commission;
  • Sepsis Treatment Guidelines Task Force; and
  • State Fair Advisory Committee.

"The interim is a time where legislators and stakeholders can meet to get a deeper understanding of the issues that are impacting our state," Leising said. "I am eager to begin working with my peers in the Senate and House as we collaborate on solutions that will make Indiana a better place to live, work and raise a family."

When Indiana’s part-time legislature is not in session, lawmakers serve on interim study committees that meet to review the state’s top issues, as identified by the General Assembly during the prior legislative session.

Study committee topics are assigned by the bipartisan Legislative Council, comprised of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
