STATEHOUSE (Sept. 25, 2025) – State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) joined Gov. Mike Braun, Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith and a delegation from Taiwan for the signing of two letters of intent for Taiwan to purchase $6.4 billion in U.S. corn and soybeans over the next four years.
As part of the Taiwan Agricultural Trade Goodwill Mission, the Indiana Soybean Alliance and the Taiwan Vegetable Oil Manufacturers Association signed one letter of intent, and the Indiana Corn Marketing Council and Taiwan Feed Industry Association signed another. Taiwan will purchase $2.12 billion in U.S. corn products and between $3.4 and $4.2 billion in soybean products over the next four years.
The delegation from Taiwan also toured Fischer Food Grade and Seed Farm in Shelbyville, Purdue University and Lamb Farms.
“As chair of the Indiana Senate Committee on Agriculture, I know how important partnerships like these are to our farmers and our state,” Leising said. “This partnership with Taiwan will continue to strengthen not only the agricultural industry in Indiana, but also our economy as a whole.”
This is the 15th time the Taiwan Agricultural Trade Goodwill Mission has visited the U.S. to strengthen agricultural ties with states.
