September is National Recovery Month

Friday, September 18, 2020

Every September, the national Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recognizes National Recovery Month.

National Recovery Month, now in its 31st year, celebrates the gains made by those in recovery from mental and substance use disorders, just as we celebrate improvements made by those suffering from other diseases such as cancer and heart disease.

The goal of this observance is to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with mental and substance use disorders to live healthy and rewarding lives.

The National Recovery Month website offers a variety of webinars and tools for individuals and loved ones to help facilitate and continue recovery.

Additionally, this September, Faces & Voices of Recovery, as a stakeholder and active member of this community, will host a new website that will serve as the central location for all recovery events near you.

Promoting Hoosier health is always important, and mental health and substance use disorder is no exception. To learn more about National Recovery Month and to download promotional material for social media, click here
