Senate Republicans offering legal internship

Senate Republicans offering legal internship

Monday, October 2, 2023

As the 2024 legislative session nears, the Senate Republican Caucus is looking for college students and recent graduates to apply for its internship program. One opportunity offered includes a legal internship.

Legal interns work with the Senate Republican legal team during the legislative session to help conduct legal and policy research, draft and file Senate motions and resolutions, summarize amendments and conference committee reports and create the daily legislative schedule.

These interns also have the opportunity to work with state legislators and full-time staffers, and see how public policy is crafted in the Indiana General Assembly.

The legal internship is ideal for, but not limited to, pre-law and law school students.

Candidates must be at least a college sophomore, recent college graduate, graduate student or law school student. All majors are welcome to apply, and positions are open to Indiana residents and nonresidents who attend any college or university in the state.

Interns earn a $900 biweekly stipend and benefit from scholarship and academic credit opportunities, professional development, community involvement and networking.

Senate internships are full-time positions at the Statehouse in Indianapolis that typically start with a mandatory orientation in late December and conclude at the end of the legislative session in March 2024.

The deadline to apply for the program is on Oct. 31.
