Sen. Raatz welcomes local students to Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (March 9, 2023) – State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse who served as Senate pages in February.

  • Ali Anderson, from Richmond, attends Centerville High School
  • Sawyer Murray, from Centerville, attends Centerville-Abington Junior High School

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

"As the chair of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Development, I look forward to welcoming students to the Statehouse and helping them learn about the legislative process," Raatz said. "It is vital for young Hoosiers to have educational opportunities beyond the classroom, and I believe all students should partake in the Senate Page Program to learn firsthand how our state government functions."

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
