Sen. Dernulc welcomes local students to Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (April 21, 2023) – State Sen. Dan Dernulc (R-Highland) welcomed Hammond natives Robert Patton and Jacob Tomczak to the Statehouse who served as Senate pages in March.

The Hammond Academy of Science and Technology students spent a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with Dernulc.

"It makes my day whenever I meet students from Northwest Indiana who take the time out of their busy schedules to visit us and learn more about the legislative process," Dernulc said. "Thank you Robert and Jacob for visiting the Senate. I look forward to meeting more students from Senate District 1 next year."

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
