Rogers: General Assembly kicks off 2023 session

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 22, 2022) — State Sen. Linda Rogers (R-Granger) today gathered with fellow legislators at the Statehouse for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the 123rd Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day includes the swearing in of new and returning members of the General Assembly, including Rogers, who take the formal oath of office to begin a new Senate term. This day also marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers and gives each Senate and House of Representatives caucus the opportunity to organize in preparation for the 2023 legislative session.

During the first session of each General Assembly, lawmakers craft a comprehensive budget to fund government services for the next two fiscal years.

“I am honored to be chosen by Senate District 11 to serve another term and continue my work in the Senate," Rogers said. "During the interim, the Housing Task Force, which I co-chaired with Rep. Doug Miller of Elkhart, reviewed data on Indiana housing shortages and efforts made in other states to address the issue. This session, I hope to work with my colleagues to support legislation that eases some of the difficulties low- and middle-income households face."

As the 2023 session gets underway, Rogers encourages residents of Senate District 11 to contact her with any questions or comments they may have by email at Senator.Rogers@iga.in.gov or by phone at 800-382-9467.
