STATEHOUSE (Oct. 28, 2026) — Communities in Senate District 11 will receive more than $2.5 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Linda Rogers (R-Granger).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $2 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 11, the following communities received grants:

  • Elkhart received $255,400;
  • Elkhart County received $336,593.13;
  • Middlebury received $770,840;
  • Mishawaka received $366,263.75;
  • South Bend received $405,205; and
  • St. Joseph County received $373,234.25.

"Having a strong transportation network is essential as the Crossroads of America," Rogers said. "As a community on the state line, it's important we work to make our roads the best they can be. It's great to see these communities in Senate District 11 take advantage of this grant, and I look forward to the improvements that will come as a result."

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 55,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 12,500 receive an 80%/20% match, while counties with populations greater than 55,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 12,500 receive a 50%/50% match.
