STATEHOUSE (Oct. 29, 2026) — Communities in Senate District 27 will receive more than $2.6 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $2 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 27, the following communities received grants:

  • Brookville received $210,638.56;
  • Dunreith received $77,996;
  • East Germantown received $88,920;
  • Economy received $62,352;
  • Henry County received $546,166.99;
  • Kennard received $193,541.60;
  • Middletown received $250,560;
  • Mount Summit received $90,239;
  • New Castle received $356,768.36;
  • Sulphur Springs received $119,830.60;
  • Union County received $318,284; and
  • Wayne County received $305,000.

"Having well-maintained roads is key to improving travel for those who live in Senate District 27 and those who travel here," Raatz said. "I applaud all of these communities for taking the initiative to apply for these funds, and I look forward to seeing the impact they'll have on our roads."

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 55,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 12,500 receive an 80%/20% match, while counties with populations greater than 55,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 12,500 receive a 50%/50% match.
