Niemeyer: General Assembly kicks off 2023 session

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 22, 2022) — State Sen. Rick Niemeyer (R-Lowell) today gathered with fellow legislators at the Statehouse for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the 123rd Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day includes the swearing in of new and returning members of the General Assembly, including Niemeyer, who take the formal oath of office to begin a new Senate term. This day also marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers and gives each Senate and House of Representatives caucus the opportunity to organize in preparation for the 2023 legislative session.

During the first session of each General Assembly, lawmakers craft a comprehensive budget to fund government services for the next two fiscal years.

“I am pleased to be serving another term as state senator for Senate District 6," Niemeyer said. "Addressing the concerns of my district is my number one priority, so I am excited to be back at the statehouse during session to tackle the issues important to constituents."

As the 2023 session gets underway, Niemeyer encourages residents of Senate District 6 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have by email at Senator.Niemeyer@iga.in.gov or by phone at 317-232-9849.
