Next steps following the 2025 legislative session

Friday, May 2, 2025

Throughout the 2025 legislative session, Senate Republicans worked tirelessly to pass valuable legislation that will best serve Hoosiers across Indiana.

This year, the Indiana General Assembly passed five Senate Republican priority bills:

Senate Enrolled Act 1 enacts meaningful property tax reform to provide $1.3 billion in property tax relief for homeowners over the next three years;

Senate Enrolled Act 2 contains Medicaid costs and prevent fraud, placing better controls on Medicaid eligibility to encourage personal responsibility;

Senate Enrolled Act 3 lowers health care costs by ensuring health insurance third-party administrators (TPAs) and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) prioritize financial integrity;

Senate Enrolled Act 4 responsibly manages state water resources to ensure our resources are being managed responsibly to offer Hoosiers the access they need; and

Senate Enrolled Act 5 prioritizes Indiana's fiscal integrity and contract accountability to increase government transparency and efficiency.

Senate Republicans were also dedicated to crafting a fiscally responsible and balanced state budget that increases funding for Indiana's K-12 education.

Bills approved by both chambers of the General Assembly are now being considered and signed by the governor.

During the session, about 20% of the 1,229 bills introduced by Indiana's 150 lawmakers passed the General Assembly.

Of the bills that passed, more than 90% received bipartisan support and nearly 50% received unanimous support in the Senate.

While the 2025 legislative session ended, senators will continue to work for Hoosiers in the months ahead as they begin preparing for the 2026 legislative session.
