Leising: Senate District 42 awarded COVID-19 response funding

STATEHOUSE (May 1, 2020) — Communities in Senate District 42 will be awarded funds through the new COVID-19 Response Program, said State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg). Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) recently announced 49 rural communities across the state received the new federal grant funding.

Below is a list of the communities and projects awarded funds in Senate District 42.

  • Fayette County is receiving $250,000 to provide funds for a business grant making program to assist its hardest hit manufacturers and retail businesses. The goal is to provide businesses with short-term working capital to continue operations, reopen businesses, restock inventory or pay for technology for remote working.

  • The City of New Castle is receiving $250,000 to fund a business grant making program to assist its hardest hit manufacturers and retail businesses.

  • The City of Rushville is receiving $250,000 to help fund its existing revolving loan fund to help local small businesses and create an expedited distribution system.

"I am grateful our district was able to attain this financial assistance," Leising said. "I commend local leaders for their work to secure this funding and am confident this money will go to great use at the local level for businesses impacted by the COVID-19 crisis."

More projects will be announced as they continue to be evaluated and reviewed by OCRA.
