STATEHOUSE (April 8, 2020) — Communities in Senate District 42 will receive more than $8.9 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since it was put into place, the program has awarded more than $738 million in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 42, the following communities received grants:

  • Batesville received $217,090.50;
  • Connersville received $397,528.83;
  • Decatur County received $999,970.47;
  • Dunreith received $55,417.50;
  • Fayette County received $1 million;
  • Franklin County received $1 million;
  • Henry County received $1 million;
  • Knightstown received $187,222.50;
  • Lewisville received $69,292.50;
  • Oldenburg received $594,144.99;
  • Ripley County received $955,548.75;
  • Rushville received $713,025;
  • Shelby County received $997,537.50; and
  • Shelbyville received $734,535.

“I commend local leaders for securing this funding, which will further improve our district,” Leising said. “I am eager to see the positive impact this will have on our part of the state, as we continue to advance our infrastructure to meet the needs of our communities.”

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations of greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations of greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.
