FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STATEHOUSE (Jan. 12, 2026) — A bill authored by Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) to support the relationship between the Indiana FFA and Indiana State Department of Agriculture passed out of the Senate Committee on Agriculture unanimously today.
Senate Bill 230 would declare it one of the policies of the ISDA to support, staff and aid the Indiana FFA.
Indiana FFA membership includes over 14,000 students across 230 chapters. The FFA provides opportunities for students to demonstrate and develop problem solving and career and leadership skills to prepare them for long-term success.
"The Indiana FFA continues to make positive impacts on the lives of students by providing them with a supportive community that fosters personal growth and career success," Leising said. "This bill would ensure the partnership between Indiana FFA and the ISDA lasts for years to come. I look forward to working with my fellow legislators on this bill as it moves through the rest of the legislative process."
This bill now moves to the Senate Committee on Appropriations for further consideration.
Leising encourages residents of Senate District 42 to contact her with any questions or comments they may have. Leising can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Leising or by phone at 800-382-9467.
