Legislative Internship with the Indiana Senate

Young professionals interested in learning how state government works are encouraged to take advantage of a legislative internship opportunity with the Indiana Senate Republican Caucus.

This internship offers students and recent graduates the chance to work alongside state senators and representatives and be part of the policymaking process during legislative sessions.

Legislative interns will be paired with full-time legislative assistants and work closely with one or two state senators. This gives interns a unique experience to be a part of the day-to-day operations of the Senate during session and the chance to make meaningful contributions to the legislative process.

Inters are a vital part of the daily operations during a legislative session at the Statehouse. During the internship, legislative interns will learn how to:

• Track and analyze bill data as legislation moves through the process;
• Provide constituent services by helping Hoosiers connect with their elected officials;
• Staff Senate committee hearings and meetings; and
• Conduct legislative and policy research to support senators and their staff.
