Applications are now open for the Indiana Senate Republican Caucus internship program for the 2022 legislative session, which includes the opportunity to serve as an information technology intern.
IT interns work alongside the IT director, legislators, staff and fellow interns to assess and respond to the IT needs of the Senate.
Daily responsibilities for the IT internship include:
Through these tasks, interns gain an understanding of the daily work of state government along with a variety of professional development and networking opportunities.
Cooper Oatess, who served as an IT intern during the 2021 legislative session, offered the following on his internship experience:
"This internship has been a very valuable learning experience. Not only have I learned many technical skills, but it has also prepared me for what to expect in life after college. For anyone in tech looking for a solid foundation to start their professional experience, this internship has been very beneficial."
Vanessa Snyder, who served as an IT intern during the 2016 legislative session and went on to work full-time as the Senate’s IT System Administrator, said the following on the IT internship:
“I really enjoyed my IT internship with the Indiana State Senate. I was able to assist state legislators, staff and interns while increasing my knowledge and skills. If you are interested in getting firsthand experience and networking opportunities while being a part of the legislative process, then the Indiana Senate internships are perfect for you.”
The internship program runs from the end of December 2021 through mid-March 2022 and is open to college and graduate students, as well as recent graduates.
