STATEHOUSE (Feb. 14, 2024)– Two local college students are serving as interns for the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus during the 2024 legislative session, said State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford).
Kylie Mae Reynolds, a resident of Seymour, is the daughter of Suanne and Gilbert Carpenter. Reynolds graduated from Brownstown Central High School and is a senior at Indiana University Indianapolis studying political science.
Michael Emigh, a resident of Seymour, is the son of Anita and Allen Emigh. Emigh graduated from Seymour High School and is a senior at IUPUI studying history.
"The Senate internship provides recent college students an amazing opportunity to become more active in state government and develop valuable professional skills," Koch said. "I am happy to see local students gain experience during the session."
As legislative interns, Emigh and Reynolds track and analyze bill data, provide constituent services, staff Senate committee hearings and meetings, and conducts legislative policy research.
"I am beyond excited to learn and grow from this experience as I work for Senator Mishler throughout this legislative session," Reynolds said.
"I am happy to have the opportunity to play a small part in assisting these senators as they work hard to serve the Hoosiers they represent," Emigh said.
Senate Majority interns work through the duration of the legislative session, which is scheduled to end by March 14.
