Indiana sees small-business growth

Friday, February 8, 2019

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) recently announced a record-breaking year for small-business growth in the Hoosier state.

In 2018 alone, the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) and Indiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) helped launch more than 300 small businesses and create more than 1,500 new jobs.

Additionally, the ISBDC and PTAC assisted in securing $86.3 million in government contracts for Indiana businesses.

The ISBDC helps entrepreneurs looking to start or grow a business by providing resources, including expert guidance and market research. Similarly, PTAC assists Hoosier businesses in competing for federal, state and local contracts.

Our state continues to support small businesses and outranks neighboring states in entrepreneur friendliness. With the increasing number of small businesses launched and new jobs created, Indiana’s economy continues to thrive.

Recently, the IEDC announced the end of a second record-breaking year for economic development, as businesses have committed to create 31,112 new jobs and invest more than $7.38 billion to locate or expand in Indiana in the coming years.
