Grooms: Upcoming town hall meeting canceled

STATEHOUSE (March 17, 2020) — Due to the growing concerns around the spread of the new respiratory coronavirus, COVID-19, Saturday’s town hall meeting has been canceled, said State Sen. Ron Grooms (R-Jeffersonville). The town hall was scheduled to take place Saturday morning at the Jeffersonville City Hall.

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) recommends the following actions to help prevent contracting and/or spreading the flu or COVID-19.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap is unavailable).

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Additionally, with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Indiana, the ISDH encourages Hoosiers to get information about the virus from credible sources. Symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath.

Health care providers and members of the public who have concerns about COVID-19 can call the ISDH Epidemiology Resource Center, which is staffed 24 hours a day, at 317-233-7125.
