STATEHOUSE (Oct. 28, 2026) — Communities in Senate District 45 will receive nearly $3 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said Senate President Pro Tem-Elect Chris Garten (R-Charlestown). Garten specifically pointed to Clarksville receiving the sixth-highest award in the state, and Sellersburg and Clark County among the top 15% of awardees.
The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $2 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.
In Senate District 45, the following communities received grants:
"Running an efficient local government means seeking out innovative and creative solutions to ensure each Hoosier tax dollar goes as far as it can," Garten said. "I'm proud of our local leaders who secured some of the top award amounts in the state. This funding will help ensure we have first-class infrastructure in Senate District 45 so Hoosiers have safe roads they can use to get to and from work and school, and so our local economy thrives."
Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 55,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 12,500 receive an 80%/20% match, while counties with populations greater than 55,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 12,500 receive a 50%/50% match.
