Ford: General Assembly kicks off 2023 session

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 22, 2022) — State Sen. Jon Ford (R- Terre Haute) today gathered with fellow legislators at the Statehouse for Organization Day — the ceremonial start of the 123rd Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day includes the swearing in of new and returning members of the General Assembly. This day also marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers and gives each Senate and House of Representatives caucus the opportunity to organize in preparation for the 2023 legislative session.

During the first session of each General Assembly, lawmakers craft a comprehensive budget to fund government services for the next two fiscal years.

“As we return for the 2023 legislative session, I look forward to continuing the important conversations had this interim and working on ways we can improve Indiana's support of children in our foster care system,” Ford said. “In addition, setting up a balanced state budget will be at the forefront of conversations, as we identify how we want to fund the important services offered to Hoosiers throughout the state.”

As the 2023 session begins, Ford encourages residents of Senate District 38 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have by email at Senator.Ford@iga.in.gov Senator.Ford@iga.in.gov or by phone at 800-382-9467.
